Vacant neglected buildings are in private ownership as we improve the area together these people who held the street back for so long stand to gain.
The empty spaces are depriving people of places to live and work so the street is somewhere they want to spend time in.
The market has failed. A combination of land values and renovations costs make most sites unviable in the ‘traditional’ sense.
If we don’t stay one step ahead there is a risk of gentrification that locks local people out and the financial and economic benefits won’t sit with local people.
