  • The issues our community face are due to long term under investment, poverty and lack of access to basic support and needs.

Taking risks is not about ignoring advice or not operating safely, it is about recognising the ‘normal’ or ‘proper’ ways of working have not served our community well and so we need to find a different way.

Our community tolerates a lot, despite being one of the top most disadvantaged areas in the country it is only prioritised for urgent or short term fixes - it needs long term sustainable investment to create positive hope with lasting improvements and opportunities.

Often solutions are created by people who don’t live here or experience the challenges. Data, stories and local knowledge are not shared enough or used to make informed decisions.

This community deserves better and has demonstrated it can lead change by working together and sharing resources.

Communities don’t operate within boundaries - by blurring boundaries created for statistics, masterplans and investment we can make sure we connect up and share resources in ways that work in practice at a local level out in our community.

  • Everyone had the opportunity to get involved, felt heard and can influence decisions locally and across the city.

Everyone gave themselves permission to do a small a thing to make positive change - they add up to big and better change!

Generous leadership was normal. We build trust, share and collaborate - working from a place of abundance not scarcity.

We use and share data and stories so people can ask the useful questions, challenge and deeply understand what is needed and wanted.

We took risks together - services, communities, organisations and businesses recognising the lasting solutions lie in collaboration.

These are some of the actions that could make that happen…
